About Rosie

Rosie

Rosie is a 50ft (15m) open sided narrow boat originally built for the Huddersfield Canal Restoration Society in 1986 by Cammel Laird apprentices. She was named Greater Manchester and worked tirelessly raising money for the Canal charity eventually being sold to Foulridge Canal Cruisers between Burnley and Skipton on the Leeds and Liverpool canal. Her livery was changed from orange to green and red and she became ‘Barden Broomstick’ carrying shoppers from Burnley town to Barden mill shop and back at the weekends.

Narrow Boat Rosie Again she came up for sale and was bought by Liz and family as an ideal first boat for Camboats to ply the River Cam and Gt Ouse. The family worked hard to restore ‘Rosie’ and get all the necessary training and licences to trade on the river between Cambridge and Ely for individuals, families, schools and groups. Liz retired in 2013 and passed the business onto Peter to continue to develop the range of services Camboats offer.
